Affordable and Clean Energy In line with Saudi Arabia’s ambitious goals in providing affordable and clean Energy including the 2030 goals to generate 50% of its energy from renewables and to plant 10 billion trees, PSAU has started incorporating several initiatives and projects in this regard including the followings: 1. The Green University Project: PSAU is working on several levels to achieve this ambitious goal. An example of the work that has been done in this regard is the partnership of PSAU with the Chair of Sarah bint Ghunaim to plant more than 2500 Moringa Tree in PSAU campus. This project was inaugurated by the rector of the University, confirming the importance of these kind of projects to PSAU, and aimed to spread the good practice of planting of Moringa tree in the University. The tree is known as a full pharmacy and used in many fields such nutrition, environment, and fertilizers production. The importance of this plant comes from the usage of most of its parts such as roots, stem, tree bark, leaves, flowers, and pods, besides seeds, and the oil of the flower and seeds. In addition, the honey can be produced almost all of the year from the Moringa flower, because of the long period of blossoms. PSAU is aiming at this partnership to popularize the cultivation of the "snake skin cactus" as this plant produces oxygen at night and in very weak light. The partnership is aiming to spreading the cultivation of this plant in student dormitories, classrooms, internal corridors, administrative offices, etc., to improve its aerodynamic environment and create an appropriate atmosphere within it that stimulates activity and stimulates work and creativity. In addition, PSAU had partnered with several stakeholders to raise community awareness in several occasions such as the World Environment Day which PSAU used to increase awareness about the benefits and importance of plants, how to take care of them and preserve them, and how the process of planting and afforestation. This activity had been hosted by the Basic Sciences Club at the Deanship of the Preparatory Year - Female Section – an included holding a an awareness seminar entitled “A Green Footprint in Your Environment.” which included talking about plants and their benefits in all respects, how to cultivate and plant them, how to take care of them, and the resulting effects. At the end of this symposium, flower saplings were distributed by the students of the club to the attendees to encourage them to take care of them, and brochures were distributed containing phrases about the importance of the green footprint and the positive impact associated with planting, agriculture and plant care.
