PSAU argued for environmental conservation on two levels: beneath the surface of the water and on land, at all levels. The Arabian Gulf borders Saudi Arabia on the east, and the Red Sea on the west.

Courses in marine ecosystems, such as Marine Biology BIO (2130) and other relevant academic subjects, are available at Alkharj's College of Science and Humanities. The institution supported efforts that followed national guidelines for responsible maritime habitat management and protection.
