Policy on Female Mentoring, Academic Support, Scholarship, and Financial Assistance

5.3.3.1 Access to mentoring and academic support

The PSAU operates a university-wide policy on faculty mentoring for its students. These include one-to-one sessions with designated faculty as well as others involving different groups of students. The sessions are primarily aimed at identifying and supporting students to overcome academic related challenges they encounter and career related choices as they advance in their studies. The academic mentoring is considered part of the faculty members duties and the are undertaken all year long as specified below.

Furthermore, the university organises different events where outstanding members of the community considered as role models as invited to provide motivation and inspiration related different challenges of career life, family life, etc.

5.3.3.2 Access to stipends, scholarships, and bursaries

Guided by the government policy on higher education in Saudi Arabia, all duly admitted students attending public institutions are awarded monthly stipends in equal amount without discrimination regarding gender or nationality.

The guidelines stipulated by PSAU for receiving these stipends vary slightly between students resident in the kingdom and external students as outlined below.

A. Internal students

General Provisions:

1. The scholarship applicant shall be subject to the residency regulations in the Kingdom.

2. It is acceptable to apply for all majors except for health majors, as their acceptance is limited to Saudi students only.

3. The scholarship applicant is not entitled to transfer from Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University to another, and the university has the right to make an exception in the cases it deems appropriate.

4. The student is not entitled to apply for admission to more than one Saudi university.

5. The rules, regulations, and instructions in force at Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University shall apply to the scholarship applicant.

Admission requirements for internal scholarship students (for students residing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia):

1. Internal scholarship students are subject to the admission requirements applicable to Saudis.

2. The student should not have obtained another scholarship from an educational institution in the Kingdom.

3. The student must have obtained a high school diploma from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

4. Not to have been dismissed from one of the educational institutions in the Kingdom.

5. To have a mahram with the student, according to the regulating instructions, provided that he is covered by a scholarship or has a regular residence.

6. To pass the medical examination decided by the university.

7. The student must be a regular resident in the Kingdom.

8. The student's age shall not be less than (17) years and not more than (25) years

9. The application must be made electronically through the academic system portal on the specified dates.

10. All majors are accepted, except for health majors, as their acceptance is limited to Saudi students only.

Submission of grant applications:

Applications for grants are submitted electronically through the academic system portal at Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University via the link: https://scholarships.psau.edu.sa/, provided that it is during the application period specified for students, and the admission procedures are completed by the university.

Important notes when submitting electronically:

1. The residence permit must be valid for a period of no less than 3 months from the date of application.

2. You must ensure that all application stages are filled out correctly and accurately.

3. Clearly attach the documents by uploading them through the scanner and from the original document (to avoid excluding the request, it must be ensured that the documents are uploaded clearly and accurately by uploading them through the scanner and from the original document).

4. Documents to be attached when applying online (high school diploma - residence).

B. External students

General Provisions:

1. The scholarship applicant shall be subject to the Kingdom’s residency regulations.

2. The student is on the university record during the scholarship

3. The scholarship applicant is not entitled to transfer from Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University to another, and the university has the right to make an exception in the cases it deems appropriate.

4. The external scholarship applicant is prohibited from working for companies, institutions or individuals during the study period.

5. The scholarship applicant shall be subject to the rules, regulations, and instructions in force at the university.

6. It is acceptable to apply for all majors except for health majors, as their acceptance is limited to Saudi students only.

Scholarship Expiry:

The external scholarship student must leave the Kingdom after completing his studies, within a period not exceeding three months from the date of its completion. If the original program period has expired, it may not be extended by more than half of it.

5.3.3.3 Access to financial aid and support

As stipulated in Chapter 7 of the Higher Education Council Law and Universities, female students of PSAU shall be provided financial aid and support based on the following provisions.

Article 41

A regular Saudi student who is not employed at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels shall be paid the following rewards and subsidies:

A- Undergraduate

1- A monthly reward of SR 1,000 for a student in scientific majors and SR 850 for a student in theoretical majors.

2 - A monthly financial aid for a blind student equal to the first-class salary of the fifth rank in the name of a reader’s allowance and certain means.

3- A excellence award of SR 1,000 for the student who achieves an excellent grade in each academic year.
