Policy on Female Admission, Acceptance, and Participation

Prince Sattam Bin Abdulaziz University (PSAU) operates a clearly defined and publicly accessible policy framework to support the admission, access, and participation of female students across all colleges, disciplines, and educational levels. This is aligned with national Vision 2030 priorities and institutional commitments to gender equity in higher education.

Policy Commitment

PSAU’s Policy on Female Admission and Access to Education affirms that all academic programmes and facilities are open to qualified female applicants under the same criteria as male applicants. The University uses the central national admission portal managed by the Ministry of Education, which guarantees equitable, merit-based selection.

Access and Participation in Programmes

Women are proportionally represented across PSAU’s diverse programme offerings. For example, female students accounted for:

  • 60.6% of admissions to M.Sc. programmes in Statistics and Mathematics in recent cohorts
  • Over 50% of annual graduates across all faculties by 2023

These figures reflect broad and increasing participation, particularly in areas such as health sciences, computing, and mathematics.

Structural Support and Monitoring

Separate but equivalent women’s campuses ensure culturally appropriate access to laboratories, research infrastructure, and co-curricular opportunities. PSAU monitors access and inclusion through institutional performance units and programme accreditation reviews.

Outreach and Leadership Development

Targeted initiatives to encourage female participation include the i-Women Fellowship (launched with international partners) and pre-university outreach events such as STEM career camps for girls from local schools. Female students also participate in national and international conferences under university sponsorship.

Transparency and Continuous Review
Policies are reviewed biennially to ensure relevance, and updates are published through the PSAU admissions and quality assurance portals. Full policy texts and access guidelines are accessible at https://www.psau.edu.sa/en/admission-criteria.

PSAU remains committed to improving access and outcomes for women across all aspects of the academic experience—from admission to leadership.
